Rowan is a journalist, editor, critic and activist whose work covers the intersection of radical imagination and niche cultural movements. She is the founder of the industry-altering, worker-owned TTRPG outlet Rascal News. Her writing has appeared in Polygon, Tripsitter, Autostraddle, and The Fandomentals; where she’s covered games, television, politics, gender, and psychedelics; as well as becoming a preeminent critic in the developing field of Actual Play. She is also co-founder of WriteHive, a literary non-profit which hosts annual conventions, workshops, and writing retreats that specialize in providing marginalized writers with development and networking opportunities. As an editor, she specializes in fantasy, speculative fiction, memoir, and political nonfiction.
